Pros and cons
Shell construction (AIM+) is wind tunnel tested, allowing fully aerodynamic properties to be maximized. High performance fiber, combined with more elastic organic fiber is used to create a shell structure which is ultra-lightweight, resilient yet rigid and super-strong. An adjusted tail fin, smoothly integrated with the lower rear beading, combines with an integrated spoiler, allowing a smooth airflow which reduces liftanddrag. 5 separate shell sizes with six EPS lining combinations give a large number fit options.
The ventilation system is variable, with an upper intake vent positioned to allow maximum air volume to enter the interior. The top exhaust vent is positioned to provide optimum flow-through. Four outlet vents at the rear allow the adjustment of the airflow, based on the rider’s seating position. An enlarged low air intake vent reduces fogging by increasing ventilation. A rear neck outlet allows effective air exhaust. A breath guard and a chin curtain are also included.
The whole interior lining, including cheek pads, chinstrap covers and crown liner, is removed easily to allow for cleaning. The inner liner is designed ergonomically, offering ultimate safety, comfort and fit. The new RF 100 helmets are fully eyeglass compatible.
The vision out of this Helmet is superb, both central and peripheral areas are clear, showing no distortion at all. It fits like a glove. The venting system is very effective, even in wet, frosty and foggy conditions. Has just the right amount of sound insulation.
Why should you buy it?
It’s not cheap, but if it were my head in the helmet I would want the best helmet I could possibly afford and this one is exactly the sort of helmet I would require.
Verdict
Shoei RF-1100 Full Face Motorcycle Helmet -A great helmet, brilliant fit, incredible vision, more than adequate ventilation and quiet as a church mouse. It ain’t cheap but the value is certainly there.
