Who is it for?
If you want a helmet to wear every day, one which looks good and is efficiently protective, The helmet certainly is the one for you. Good light weight, without uncomfortable pressure points or floppy places, but you will need to appreciate road noise as its not real quiet. It has certainly got a modern style, with a graphic which hasn’t been shy in the least. Take a look, it may suit your demeanor, and it is certainly comfortable for long periods on the highway.
Pros and Cons
As with a large proportion of Icon helmets, the noise levels coming in through the lid are relatively high. Icon helmets have always seemed to have had a higher level of noise than most brands. The Icon Domain 2 Shado is no exception to this, but that said, some riders are less sensitive to road noise than others, in fact some thrive on it. It is a large helmet too, but as it’s so well aerodynamically balanced this doesn’t present any problems at all; just gives extra protection.
It has an excellent venting system and air flow, preventing fogging up in most situations, even below freezing. Helmet stability, especially when on the highway, is great, with little or no buffeting, even in quite windy weather, at speeds up to 120 mph. Helmet has a bright, sharp look to it, both decal and shape wise and has a wide viewing area, with a good peripheral vision aspect. Replacement parts are easily available. There is a relatively high noise level.
Why you should buy it
This helmet is a well-designed and balanced product. It is eminently safe, with a well contoured comfort and if a trifle louder than some, the feel imparted by its acoustic balance is actually well-suited to many riders. It has great value level too, being worth a deal more than the present price.
Verdict
A streamlined look with cool dorsal fin and graphics, aren’t all the Icon Domain 2 Shado Helmet is about. It is very comfortable indeed, has high safety ratings and remains fog free better than most. What more do you need?
